Samantha Hawkins is a Year 10 TV, Radio and Film student at The University Technical College, MediaCityUK and was in the school’s first year intake in 2015.

“The year I was born my dad started work in the Anchorage Building overlooking Anchorage Basin, where he literally watched MediaCityUK grow. Whenever I walked past I would have a nosey at it being built and always felt it was a school that I’d like to go to one day. Today, I’m a student at UTC and my parents are so happy that I’ve found a school I love and that I can channel my studies towards the area that I eventually want to work in. 

“It’s not just about media-related subjects – I also study four sciences, including three in computer science. We also get to do watersports in the Quays – an activity I wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to do. Every day I feel excited about coming to school and I’m now feeling really positive about my future.”
